Not the quality of my old one

Actually compared to my original one I would give it 2 stars but the industry has changed. It seems very flimsy and shy of quality materials that are built to last. I was told I would only get 6 years out of it. My last one lasted 30 years. So I don't expect it to last..the quality isn't there. It seems to work well enough but having to have it 1/2 full before compacting seems odd. Quite honestly I'm afraid to use it much because I'm concerned it will break. It's not that nice to look at either...too many parts sticking out.

Compacter came bowed out on the one side and barely fit into the opening. I had the same compactor previously it slid right into the opening. Also, when the door is shut it is crooked. Very disappointed.

I bought this a few months ago to replace an old Whirlpool compactor. The old one was better than this new one. The old one had a switch that allowed compaction to stop at the most compact point. The new one has to be stopped manually. The old one had a filter fan to eliminate odors. The new one does not. The old one appeared to better constructed, using better materials. The new one seems cheap.

It's okay, not great. First compactor was broken on delivery and on the first try, it made a screeching noise and would never return to the up position. Returned it immediately. The secede unit worked fine but the left side of the drawer does not fit in tightly to the cabinet. It seems loose and there is a .5" - .75" gap that makes me wonder how long before it begins to fail. Our past unit lasted 30+ years but the quality of these two are definitely not the same. Would not recommend.

This is the second trash compactor I have bought. The first one quit working and the motor blew up. Replaced the motor and also the gear. Still did not work, so we decided to purchase a new one. Just hope the parts last longer than the old one did.

Poor warranty service after item broke in days

Broke within the first week of using. Contacted support for months with no response. Just received an email they are cancelling my warranty at 6 months ownership. Not pleased with the warranty service with this product. Why would I buy an extended warranty when you don't honor your original warranty?

We have had a compactor for years and when our last one died, we decided to order through our local appliance store for this great whirlpool that looked similar to our other appliances. It works so well, crushes our trash without a problem and seems very strong. After ordering, our wait period was short and we have the support of our local store.

There were not to many options to choose from since we needed a white appliance. I wish it had more features like compact and hold or a deodorizer, but we needed a replacement for our old one. Not as quiet as I expected.

We are upgrading all of our original appliances after 44 years. Can I say we are both just over the moon on how well our new compactor works. Our old one was on It's last leg. Our old one was also a Whirlpool. A brand we stand by to this day.

I have had this compactor for 1 month and already I need to get it serviced as it is making a loud thumping noise when the plunger returns to its top position. I now have an unusable compactor and am out almost 1k . I shouldn™™t need servicing on a very simple device that only functions in one way.

We've been using a trash compactor in our kitchen for years. When our previous one gave up, we went searching for a new one. They aren't as common as you might think because, I think, people aren't as aware of them. The ability to accumulate a week's worth of household trash into one bag is a really nice advantage. We put one in when we built our house and have been using one for over 30 years. The Whirlpool is a very nice unit, fit right into the space and is doing an excellent job. Between recycling and my new compactor, the amount of trash going into a landfill is drastically reduced.

Purchased to replace a 30 year old compactor when we remodeled our kitchen. This one is much quieter. This model does not have extra pack, so you won't see compaction until trash is about 1/2 full. Love just taking the trash out once a week!

This trash compactor isnt anything like we had. It doesnt start compacting until the bin is a little mire than half full and then it doesnt compact the trash . The old compactor compacted when there was just a few items in the bin. Not happy at all with this one

Compactor works great- the power switch malfunctioned at 9 months and left a burn mark inside the cover- trying to get thru to customer service was not successful- so I ended up buying a new power switch to fix the issue- disappointed in that respect but the compactor is a good replacement from the one I had for 30 years

Had this compactor 4 years. Had to replace the touch pad. The replacement pad was $71.00, bit pricey for a flimsy piece of plastic. Probably have to replace touch pad again in a few years. Bad design Whirlpool.

When we moved back to Texas in July 2019, we had our kitchen island extended to accommodate the same Whirlpool Trash Compactor. We have always been pleased with this trash compactor's appearance and performance.
