DO NOT BUY!!! Bought fridge in May 2023 and delivered Sept 2023. First malfunction and service call August 2025 there was massive ice build up below the evaporator coil and blocking the defrost drain, causing water flow into freezer and fridge and throwing off temperature. Unplugged, lost food, defrosted. Malfunction problem occurred AGAIN in November 2025. Service repair came again. Still could not be corrected. Ice blockage AGAIN May 2026. Waste of money DO NOT BUY!!! bought brand new had to pay for service call $200 and now need to get a new fridge again. DISAPPOINTED!! WASTE OF MONEY& WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

I purchased this model August 2025 with in months of use water started pooling, applied manufacture recommendations without fail food in the main compartment started freezing. Again manufacture troubleshooting suggestions failed. Main compartment not cooling while freezer produced ice covering everything in side. Reached out to whirlpool only suggestion to remedy was to purchase a long term maintenance agreement. Trying to find local service also failed, this model is known for having issues decscibed. In August 2025, I purchased this model. Within months of use, water began pooling in the unit. Despite following the manufacturer™€™s recommendations, food in the main compartment started freezing. Further troubleshooting attempts by the manufacturer were unsuccessful. The main compartment remained warm while the freezer produced ice, covering everything inside. Whirlpool™€™s only suggestion to resolve the issue was to purchase a long-term maintenance agreement. Attempting to find local service also proved futile, as this model is known for having the aforementioned issues. I will purchase similar model from an other manufacturer and count the losses.

Some engineering features that are confusing. Only three temperature settings for the refrigerator portion, and do these affect the temps in the freezer? (Instructions are not clear at all!) Secondly the vegetable storage bin is poorly designed. It does not have a set of rails to slide out easily but seems to be just thrown in as an after thought.

Decent refrigerator; medieval vinyl wrap

The refrigerator is fine; seems of decent quality and design. But my satisfaction with the unit is seriously undermined by the shortsighted and overdone application of protective vinyl wrap. Because the wrap was obviously applied to individual parts and panels during the manufacturing process, it was impossible to fully remove. So my stylish new refrigerator looks to be literally in tatters. A shame.

Freezer frost build up!

I have had this unit for almost 3 years. The size was very convenient. Fortunately its a basement fridge and don't really use it for food. It has frozen up on me for a second time now. Emptied it out and defrosting it for another day to hopefully buy some more time with the unit. But it sounds like it will happen again, no matter what you do.

I like the glass shelves and ample door bins. But the produce bin is huge and does not slide or seal at all because ther is not a track, it just sits awkwardly at the bottom of the fridge. I HATE, HATE the sticky plastic coating on the exterior! You cannot remove all of it from seals handles and corners, ever! I tried to call, email and held for service chat for 75 minutes with no answer nor email reply! Zero customer support!

Freezes over and the refrigerator portion gets hot

The drain plug in the freezer constantly gets plugged by ice and freezes over. This blocks the airflow to the refrigerator and food gets spoiled. Tilting the fridge more towards the drain does not alleviate the problem. In order to fix it you need to defrost the entire freezer and clean out the ice blocking the vent. Terrible design and terrible quality.

From the beginning I had water building up in both the freezer and the refrigerator. This model doesn't have an ice maker, so it is not coming from a water line. We had to keep a plastic dish in the back of the fridge to catch dripping water from the freezer. We also had to defrost a 1/4" of ice from the freezer every few months. Now after 5 years the refrigerator stopped working and the freezer works, but is completely built up with frost.

This fridge didn™€™t even last a year. The vents kept freezing over and blocking airflow. At 7 months it failed and I lost all my food. Five months later, same problem again, lost everything once more. Customer service was awful, the warranty was useless, and I™€™ll never buy Whirlpool again.

Requires defrost 4-5 times a year, Or you lose your fridge food. I feel so much better after reading reviews that other people have had these issues. We™€™ve had this French for five years and since the first year, we™€™ve had to defrost the fridge consistently in order to maintain its functionality. This requires us to move everything out of the fridge for a day so that everything is Thawed out. In the meantime, there™€™s a constant drip in the fridge so that your items are getting wet, and there™€™s a pool of water at the very bottom. Underneath the bottom drawer. It™€™s gross and annoying, but I like the size of the fridge for our kitchen, so we have dealt with it. I™€™m getting very very close to throwing it on the curb.

Problems with the refrigerator

I bought this a month ago at Best Buy, and have had some problems. First Best Buy never offered door swing direction preference. When I requested door swing switch, I was told an additional $80 charge. I chose to do the switch myself instead, which resulted in door gasket not sealing tight, causing stuff inside the refrigerator "sweating". I have to put a door stopper to force the door shut tighter. Also, for some reason, there is a lot of frost in the freezer, although the freezer door gasket seals much better than the lower fridge. I'm wondering if I could request for a replacement.

Constant frosting issues- stay away

Fridge is a little over 3 years old now and has had a constant issue with the coils freezing up and water dripping into the refrigerator area. It is about every two months that an overnight defrost is required, or I remove back panel and use hot water to thaw the ice and assure drain line is open. Very frustrating as this has been happening since the unit was new and still under warranty. The techs advice was not to put too much in the freezer and that was it.

I bought this a few weeks ago and it has been great! It is roomier than I realized based on the online picture, and looks nice. It is used as our drink fridge and it is a perfect size for our pantry. It holds a great amount of canned and bottled drinks as well as larger two liter bottles and juice/milk jugs.
